Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a fully qualified architect?

No, but I have got a qualification in HND 3D Design in Architecture and Sustainability. I can help you with what you need or guide you to the correct company that does what you’re looking for.

What does a designer do?

Designers draw up floor plans from scratch if their property has got no record of the original plans. The designer works on basic documentation, photography, CAD design and supporting sustainability if requested by new clients.

How long will it take to complete the drawings?

This depends on the size of the project and how long it takes for the client to make decisions, the first 50% of the payment submitted, amongst other things. It also depends on when the client wants to have their plans completed by.

What is involved in the design process of the job?

The plan during the process is to update the client regularly to make sure that they know what I am doing and how long it might take me to finish it. If anything, needs changed or added to the quote, I will make sure that it will add up to the final balance costs.

What are the prices?

The prices of the job will be depending on the sizes of the buildings, how long it will take me to draw them up, and how many times I will have to do it and make it into floor plans.  Prices may change during the process.

Why won't you take phone calls?

Sorry that I won't be taking phone calls because I am profoundly deaf and rely on emails and video calls where I can lip-read and understand clearly to discuss what you're looking for.

If I can’t come to you – can you help me discuss my project?

  • Yes, of course. Don't worry, I can discuss your project through email, or video call or I can come to you (depending on where you’re located).

  • If you have recently just purchased a property that is on a remote site and need to meet there, don't worry I can do that with no problem - I have a 4x4 vehicle.

I don’t have access to the property, but I have got some photos of the building.

  • That's fine, as long I know that you own or will purchase the property. (We will need proof of it somehow.)

  • We can work from photos too - this will take us longer but it will take us to where we want to be in the designing process.

  • This is the point where I will figure out the structure wise (condition, age etc) and then find the research of records or old images along with the name of the property. If you know the name of the property - great, it will take us there faster and hope they have floor plans, if not don't worry we have got you covered!
